Senior Adult Program
Helping Seniors with Disabilities Thrive in the Community.
Overview
Our Senior Adult Program, located in Rohnert Park, provides a variety of site-based and community-based recreation, adult education, and wellness activities for adults, ages 50 and over, with developmental disabilities. The program offers a retirement option for senior adults that may have worked previously or participated in programs that no longer meet their aging needs or activity choices.
Program Goals
Staff members support senior adults with participating in a variety of activities that stimulate cognitive functioning, provide positive social interaction, and improve overall quality of life. The program plays a vital role in the wellness of senior adults by offering a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment with daily fitness and nutrition activities. The Senior Adult Program provides:
On-site and community-based recreation, education, and wellness activities.
An environment with equipment designed for senior adult use and comfort.
Activities that are cognitively stimulating and challenging for senior adults.
Support for fitness and health through light exercise activities and nutrition education.
Recreation activities that promote individual creativity and social interaction.
Program Activities
Participants may choose between a variety of recreation activities and adult education classes that are conducted both on-site and in the community. “The Senior Adult Program helps keep her active, happy and allows her to develop friendships. This program also helps with her memory in ways that she can tell me about her day which can often be hard for her to do. ”
