Hello Cypress Families,

With Cypress Families and Cypress School Team supports we have continued collaborating, cooperating, creating, caring, sharing and being COURAGEOUS as best we can!

Sadly, we will remain physically closed through the end of the school year, June 5, 2020. Based on the State Superintendent of Schools, we await news on the re-opening of Cypress for the Extended School Year June 22-July 31st. Based on the Governor and our recommended Behavior Program requirements, we will physically re-open the Afterschool when school re-opens and hopefully be allowed back for either both or at least the second session of the Special Summer Behavior Programs (tentatively 6/8-19th and 8/3-14th).
Reminder, we are on Spring ‘Break’ this coming week from school including Zooms from 4/6-10th. Please email and set a call appointment with me if you need assistance during this ‘break’ time!

Laura and Nate are leading ongoing all family ZOOM meetings twice monthly on Monday at 2:30 p.m. (April 13 and 27 and May 5 and 19, and finally June 1).

Secondary Teacher Isabel Yates had a Spanish Speakers Family Meeting on Tuesday – we had a few families that accessed this so we will hold additional meetings once monthly to continue to follow up. Spanish speaking staff are following up daily/weekly for mono lingual families.

If you haven’t already, please go onto the internet and sign up for free for ZOOM. Get your family to help or call your teacher for instructions on getting onto this.

We will continue the fabulous ZOOM Music class with Dominic Bianco, please join in 🙂 Domenic will be doing music Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Cypress School is providing group and individual team solutions for your child’s distance learning. Each Teacher has organized distance learning options to meet your child’s needs. If you are having any difficulty accessing this material feel free to contact your teacher, therapists, and/or me at 415-720-9328 or Assistant Director Nate Yates at 415-867-2881. We can do special deliveries and/or send materials by mail.

Our therapists are available to send emails and/or Facetime/Zoom and phone calls by appointment. We are meeting with them at 1:30 p.m. today to address their abilities to offer individual and/or group services. Most of our therapists have children, but are committed to support their students and families.

Our Behavior Consultant, Sarah Doherty, is available for our families by phone for behavior supports through an email appointment Wednesdays and Fridays 9-3 p.m. sdoherty@compassllc.org. Our Afterschool Behavior program supports are available by Facetime, Zoom, email and phone calls by appointment including me/Laura (lbriggin@ucpnb.org), Sara (sdoherty@compassllc.org ), Joe (jthompson@ucpnb.org), Jeff (jeaton@ucpnb.org), and Nate (nyates@ucpnb.org).

If you would like to set up a time to FaceTime, Zoom, or phone call with me please don’t hesitate to ask! lbriggin@ucpnb.org, 415-720-9328 or Nate Yates Assistant Director nyates@ucpnb.org.

108 members of our Cypress Team came together by Zoom this Wednesday, April 1st to learn more about ‘Zooming Skills’ with Colleen Arnold and ‘Ways to Support Families During the School Closure’ with Sarah Doherty Baggs.

Nate and I will focus on our UCPNB/Cypress School website so families have one place to go to get updated information and recordings of Zooms and videos for your children.

All of the Cypress Team misses all of our students and await a return to see all of their beautiful smiling faces.

I am sending my love and hope for world healing 🙂 Laura.
