UCP of the North Bay
Adult Day Program Update
September 4, 2020
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- Due to popular demand, Camp Caz is having its 2nd Camp Talent Show on the Zoom platform September 22nd from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants are invited to sign up for a spot to showcase their many talents and socialize with friends. Participants, families, and caregivers are all invited to join in and enjoy the fun performances.
- We appreciate the work of our program staff, as they continue to assist in fulfilling the production work contracts at our Adult Program sites. Our staff continue to move between all three counties depending on need. The teamwork and camaraderie displayed throughout the United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay organization has been exemplary.
- Attendance on the Senior Adult Zoom classes has almost doubled this week from last week. Participants, who received their Art Activity Boxes from our Senior Adult Program staff, have expressed their appreciation for the various learning supplies provided to them while they are at home.
- In the WineBev Community Resources Class, we started a series on public transportation. We discussed bus payment types, social etiquette, as well as health and safety while riding public transportation. Future topics will include how to purchase bus passes, transfers between different routes, and how to read the bus schedules.
- Since one of our Gone for Good participants has been having a difficult time with the shelter in place this week, her Program Leader has volunteered to take her out to the park two days a week to give her some space, while practicing safe social distancing. We delivered yet another fire tablet to a participant so that she can now connect to our virtual classes. Our staff continue to support our participants and encourage them to learn as much as they can about the work world through the Zoom classes being offered in our program.
- OADS had another participant join Zoom classes for the first time. He was so excited to see everyone and enjoyed his first experience on Zoom with his peers. One of our Program Leaders, on her daily wellness call, sang a wonderful rendition of “Happy Birthday” 3 times to one of our OADS participants. Later, on a Zoom class, we celebrated her birthday again with her peers. Last week, four Program Leaders delivered 10 Art Baskets to participant homes for use in the Zoom Art and Crafts classes. These supplies will assist them in getting more involved in the classes each week.
- For the week of August 27 through September 2, we presented 81 online classes with a total attendance of 2,258 averaging 28 participants per class. Our unduplicated weekly class attendance was Gone for Good 87%, WineBev Services 87%, OADS 81%, and Senior Program 55%. The combined enrollment for our Adult Day Programs is 257: Gone for Good 79, WineBev Services 100, OADS 47, and Senior Program 31.
