Adult Day Program Update
September 25, 2020
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- The September Superstar Talent Show Spectacular was held on Tuesday, September 22nd from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Zoom. A gifted line-up of participants entertained us with songs, dance and original poetry. The enthusiastic audience cheered on as we brought the spirit of Camp CAZ to Zoom!
- The Senior Adult Program staff delivered Tablets and art sheets to participants last Sunday. It has been an amazing week to see the number of Seniors who joined Zoom classes for the first time. We had two special guests appear on Wednesday’s Social Gathering class. Remy, the therapy dog, and her owner Elaine, from the UCPNB Board of Directors came on and shared a special video of Remy at home. Participants were excited to see Remy who was a weekly visitor to the Senior Adult Program in the past.
- WineBev Services had a Mobile Ice Cream Social on Friday, September 18th. Ice cream treats were delivered to our WineBev participants by our dedicated program staff. The WineBev Services Family Zoom Night was held on Thursday, September 24th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. We shared the latest program updates and a video of the Ice Cream Social. The Community Resources class will cover the importance of voting and registration assistance this week.
- Gone for Good delivered 2 more Tablets to participants as well as a hot spot for one home. The 6th Family night will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. We have a fun filled evening planned with what we are calling our Zoom Revue. We will be showing how we have updated safety protocols at the facility, how transportation will look when the site reopens, and a fun video of Zoom bloopers and hilarious moments from the past few months.
- OADS and our other adult programs are doing a series of classes for the next few weeks focusing on the history of voting, voting rights, and elections in the United States. After the Voter’s Rights class last week, program staff assisted three participants in registering to vote. Sharon (a Gone For Good participant) has really enjoyed the OADs art and crafts classes. She told staff that she has gained confidence through these classes and is now very proud of her drawings: “I used to think I wasn’t any good at drawing, now I have learned that I can!”
- For the week of September 17th – 23rd, we presented 81 online classes with a total attendance of 2,195 averaging 27 participants per class. Our unduplicated weekly class attendance was Gone for Good 91%, WineBev Services 87%, OADS 81%, and Senior Program 58%. The combined enrollment for our Adult Day Programs is 256: Gone for Good 79, WineBev Services 99, OADS 47, and Senior Program 31.
