UCP of the North Bay
Adult Day Program Update
October 2, 2020
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- Plans are in the works for a Zoom Virtual UCP of the North Bay Halloween Dance, October 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This year we are inviting participants and staff to “costume up” and get ready for an amazing time with music, dancing, and more fun surprises!
- The Senior Adult Program will be delivering 3 more tablets to Senior Participants in the coming week as well as providing hot spots for 2 of those participants who do not have Wi-fi. We are thankful that all of our participants and staff are safe and did not need to evacuate their homes during the recent wildfires. Our staff continue to remain in contact with all of the senior participants and provide Zoom classes for their enjoyment during this time.
- WineBev Services has added a new class to Zoom: Community Services. In this class, participants will learn how to access and use the city services available to them such as the post office, the bank, the fire and police departments, and the library. The WineBev Services Family Zoom Night last week was a fun event for all participants and caregivers. A video of the Mobile Ice Cream Social, was shared, as well as a video appreciation for all of our Program Leaders, who have provided amazing social and personal support to our participants over the last 6 months.
- This week Gone for Good hosted another successful Family Night on Zoom. Over 60 people joined in on the fun and informative evening. We shared a video that demonstrated safe social distancing in the building, procedures for entering, and the extra safety precautions taken to provide protection when the program has its reopening in the future. During our Family Night Trivia Game participants received cheers and applause from their peers and were then provided an opportunity to spin a virtual Prize Wheel when they answered questions correctly.
- The OADS Cooking Class has encouraged one of our participants to cook for himself. This individual takes what he learns in class, writes down the recipes and instructions in his personal recipe book and then recreates the dishes with the help of his sister at home. He is developing life skills and independence, which will serve him well in the future. In the Workplace Safety Preparedness Class, we covered responsibilities in working in a retail store and shared information about the new Flipside Thrift Store in Rohnert Park. Many participants are showing interest in working at the store in the future.
- For the week of September 24th – 30th, we presented 83 online classes with a total attendance of 2,144 averaging 26 participants per class. Our unduplicated weekly class attendance was Gone for Good 92%, WineBev Services 88%, OADS 83%, and Senior Program 58%. The combined enrollment for our Adult Day Programs is 256: Gone for Good 79, WineBev Services 99, OADS 47, and Senior Program 31.
