Adult Day Program Update
January 15, 2021
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- The Senior Adult Program continues to provide educational, recreational and wellness classes on Zoom for our participants. We are reaching 77% of our Senior participants on Zoom as well as continuing our wellness check-ins each day with all 31. On January 4th, we welcomed a new Senior participant to our program. He is purchasing a laptop so that he can join us in classes soon. The classes offered by the Senior program are attended by a large variety of our clients from our other UCPNB programs, as well.
- During the Holidays, WineBev Services adapted our classes to fit the season. Included in the classes were, the history of December holidays, how to make holiday decorations, a sing-along with holiday carols, and how to bake gingerbread cookies. For the New Year we added a number of new classes: Zoology, Nutritional Education and Planning, Educational Games, and Foods Around the World. We continue to provide Tablets and Hotspots to our participants in need, so that they can join our classes. We are now reaching 94% of our WineBev clients through Zoom, as well as daily wellness checks with all of them.
- With quality classes and presentations, Gone For Good is continuing to provide education through Zoom on social skills development, recreation, and employment skills. We hosted a highly successful virtual Holiday Spectacular on December 23rd with 92 participants in attendance. It was a fun event with singing, an ugly sweater contest, and games. Our program has added 3 new participants to Gone For Good, who have joined us on our Zoom classes. As the New Year begins, we are adding more employment training classes and a few recreational classes, such as the Mysteries of Science class. Our program staff continue to support our participants by delivering supplies to homes, as needed.
- OADS is now reaching 42 out of our 46 participants through Zoom classes and continues to check in daily with each of our clients by phone, text or email. One of our participants acquired a position at Petaluma Recycling Center through UCPNB Supported Employment. He is enjoying his new job immensely as he learns new skills. OADS has a daily average attendance of 27 participants on Zoom classes. With the delivery of a Tablet and Hotspot, we added another participant to classes for the first time this month and are readying another Tablet for an additional client. For the New Year, we added a class in Brain Body Connection, a stretching/wellness class, which brings our total number to 18 classes on Zoom throughout the week. Our classes continue to offer a wide variety of topics covering employment training, recreation, and wellness.
