UCP of the North Bay
Adult Day Program Update
August 28, 2020
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- We are happy to report that our UCP of the North Bay staff members and participants who were forced to evacuate due to the fires burning in Sonoma, Napa, and Solano Counties, have all been able to return safely to their homes. We are truly grateful for the swift actions and dedicated care the team at UCP of the North Bay exhibited during these challenging times.
- Twelve of the Senior Adult Program participants, who have not been able to attend Zoom classes due to lack of internet connections had a wonderful surprise visit from the Program Staff over the weekend. Participants all received Gift Boxes filled with art supplies and puzzles. These boxes will be replenished every two weeks with new supplies. The Seniors were thrilled not only by the gifts but also getting to visit, from a safe social distance, with Senior Program staff!
- The WineBev Family Night was held on Thursday, August 27th from 5 to 6 pm. WineBev staff had a Game Night with prizes for everyone and celebrated those participants who have attended over 300 classes in the month of August.
Additionally, 2 new participants joined Zoom classes this week and Program Staff delivered 5 new Amazon Fire Tablets and trained participants on their use. With the continuing requests for Tablets, more have been ordered.
- Gone for Good held its 5th Family and Caregiver Night on Wednesday, August 26th. The event was informative as well as social, with families and participants playing Zoom Trivia for prizes. Through extra focus by the staff on increasing daily participant attendance for the Zoom classes, GFG has been extremely successful and resulted in a 15% boost in Zoom class attendance. It will be continued through the end of September, with the top Zoom attendees being recognized publicly in the Family and Caregiver Nights.
- The OADS Health and Safety class has been covering Safety and Emergency Preparedness this month. This week’s topic included how to organize a “Go Bag” containing necessary and important supplies that participants and their caregivers would be able to take with them in the event of an emergency. On September 1st, OADS staff will begin cleaning and sanitizing the City of Petaluma bus shelters. Staff are working on these projects in order to retain work contracts and ensure that they will be available to our participants when our programs re-open.
- For the week of August 20 through August 26, we presented 81 online classes with a total attendance of 2,130 averaging 26 participants per class. Our unduplicated weekly class attendance was Gone for Good 87%, WineBev Services 87%, OADS 79%, and Senior Program 55%. Online class participation has continued to increase at Gone for Good, WineBev Services, and OADS. The combined enrollment for our Adult Day Programs is 257: Gone for Good 79, WineBev Services 100, OADS 47, and Senior Program 31.
