UCP of the North Bay
Adult Day Program Update
August 14, 2020
Helping Participants through Personal Connection
Program Highlights
- Our Adult Day Programs have been operating remotely since March 2020. Since that time, we have provided weekly updates on our Outreach Program to inform the community about how we are supporting our participants. We have successfully made daily telephone contact with our participants, provided a variety of online employment training classes and activities throughout the week, distributed new Amazon Fire Tablets to participants so that they could access the internet, and brought food and other supplies to participants that needed support to ensure their basic needs were being met.
- We are now completing the process of submitting Individual Service Plans to North Bay Regional Center that reflect our efforts and provide strategies for continuing to serve our participants until such time as we are able to reopen our facilities and provide community-based programs. You can support our efforts by contacting our elected officials and requesting their support for continued funding. Information is updated weekly on our website emailed to the UCP of the North Bay Community.
- Our OADS Crafts Class is making tablet stands and cell phone stands out of wine corks that can be used when accessing our online classes. It’s a useful, creative activity that is very UCP of the North Bay with wine corks from WineBev Services, our wine packaging business that began in January 2008 and continues to operate with staff members until our participants are able to return to work.
- Our Senior Program continues to make, deliver, and replenish every two weeks, arts and crafts activity boxes for participants that are not able access online classes due to internet, residential, or family issues. Amazon Fire Tablets are available for all participants.
- For the week of August 6 through August 12, we presented 81 online classes with a total attendance of 1,942 averaging 24 participants per class. Our unduplicated weekly participant class attendance was Gone for Good 84%, WineBev Services 82%, OADS 77%, and Senior Program 55%. The combined enrollment for our Adult Day Programs is 259: Gone for Good 79, WineBev Services 102, OADS 47, and Senior Program 31.
