Boost Conductive Education

The Boost Conductive Education Program is a therapeutic four-week movement education program for children with physical disabilities. This lively program teaches skills to help children increase their mobility in order to live a more independent life. Boost Conductive Education supports each child to achieve greater independence through an intensive, inter-active summer program based on Conductive Education.

Boost Conductive Education activities address gross and fine motor, self-help and communication skills with an emphasis on success. A typical day includes such tasks as:

  • Crawling

  • Independent sitting

  • Standing

  • Taking steps

  • Using hands to climb up and down a ladder frame or grasp utensils

  • Eating, dressing, toileting and other life skills

  • Speech refinement

  • Participation from parent/aide required

Personal aides, parents and volunteers provide physical and verbal guidance to help each child initiate and control movements, following the lead of the Conductive Education teacher who is a highly trained movement specialist.  The teacher works like the nervous system itself, showing students where they can go then helping them to make the leap by taking a dynamic hands-on approach, physically guiding the children through movement until they can do it themselves.  Gradually their injured nervous systems are re-educated.
