We held our annual thank you reception, Grapes & Gratitude, at Jacuzzi Winery on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Each year we look forward to this event to connect with our community and reaffirm our mission to help improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
Employer of the Year Awards
We were especially thrilled to hold our first Gratitude Awards ceremony presenting the Employer of the Year recognizing business partners whose exceptional activities, achievements and dedication exemplify our mission to educate, advocate and provide support services to ensure a Life Without Limits for people with disabilities. These businesses support our four main programs and span Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties. Each workplace has made an outstanding contribution to employing people with disabilities.
UCP of the North Bay was proud to honor these exceptional businesses for their efforts to create an inclusive work environment that recognizes abilities, not differences. These four business partners set an impressive standard offering dignified employment to people with disabilities and helping to make a significant shift in our cultural views. We congratulate our wonderful partners.
Margaret Farman, UCP of the North Bay CEO presented the following awards:
Volunteer of the Year Award
Margaret Farman was thrilled to present the “Volunteer of the Year Award” to Steve Lohrer.
The purpose of the “Volunteer of the Year” Award is to recognize and honor an individual member who has advanced UCP of the North Bay through his/her volunteer time and efforts and has been a support to the organization’s staff.
Dr. Steve Lohrer has been a member of our Board since October 2008, and accepted the Chair nomination in April 2010. Under Steve’s tenure, we have been able to add WineBev Services and the purchase of our Napa facility and expansion of community based program, Gone For Good, OADS, Cypress Primary School and the purchase of our second school campus. We have grown from serving 70 to over 450 children and adults with disabilities and their families. Steve has overseen a very organic evolution of service while at the same time, really supporting UCP of the North Bay staff.
